Civil/Structural Engineer, Transmission Line Design

What to Expect
In this role, you will focus on civil and structural design of High-Voltage (69 kV -500 kV) underground and overhead transmission line projects. You will assistant senior technical and project level staff from the Transmission & Substation division. You will apply basic knowledge of commonly used civil and structural engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the civil/structural engineering services industry to perform your engineering designs. You will also prepare engineering studies and design reports to support the technical deliverables for the project.
What You’ll Do
- Design of Transmission Line/Substation Structures and Foundations.
- Provide fabrication support, shop drawings review.
- Responsible for the design of Transmission Line/Substation Structures and Foundations.
- Design and deliver transmission structures using PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE software and the design/layout of EHV, HV and MV Substation support structures that adhere to IEEE and ASCE standards.
- Understand design basis documents, client provided guidelines, and the ability to assist in the preparation of preliminary designs and proposals.
- Responsible for carrying out Project Management from the onset of the contract through the delivery of the product or completion of the project.
- Responsibilities will involve engineering tasks associated with the design of high-voltage electrical systems.
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of experience in Civil & Structural Engineering with Transmission Line design experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (master’s preferred), Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification (preferred).
- Proficiency in foundation and structure design, LPILE, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, Mathcad, STAAD.PRO, GTSTRUDL.
- Strong understanding of load analysis using ASCE, AISC, LRFD, IBC, NESC, power flow principles, IEEE knowledge a plus.
- Experience with NERC, FERC, PJM compliance requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, strong communication and technical writing abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Electrical Engineer, Substations

What to Expect
In this role, you will focus on design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of electrical protection systems for power generation, transmission, and distribution substation, and sub-transmission networks. You will be directly working with the Substation Engineering Project Team to provide technical support to field engineers, technicians, and operations teams. You will assist in developing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables. You will bring your expertise in protective relaying, control systems, substation automation, and power system analysis to ensure the reliability and safety of electrical infrastructure. You work closely with utilities, EPC firms, and system operators to develop protection strategies. You will have end-to-end responsibilities across the entire engineering domain.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop protection schemes for transmission, distribution, and substation systems.
- Perform fault analysis, load flow studies, and relay coordination to optimize system performance.
- Select and configure protective relays (e.g., SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens).
- Develop control schematics, wiring diagrams, and logic configurations for substations and power systems.
- Integrate SCADA, RTU, and IEC 61850-based communication systems for remote monitoring and control.
- Conduct relay testing, commissioning, and settings verification using test equipment (Omicron, Doble, Megger).
- Diagnose and resolve faults, mis operations, and protection system failures.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of new protection systems in substations and power plants.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulations (IEEE, NERC, FERC, IEC, ANSI).
- Prepare and review technical reports, settings documentation, and maintenance procedures.
- Support compliance with utility and grid codes for protection coordination.
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of experience in protection & control engineering for power systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (master’s preferred), Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification (preferred).
- Proficiency in relay settings, coordination studies, and power system modeling tools (ETAP, ASPEN, PSS/E, CAPE).
- Hands-on experience with protective relays (SEL, GE Multilin 8, ABB, Siemens).
- Strong understanding of power system protection principles (distance, differential, overcurrent, bus, and transformer protection).
- Experience with NERC, FERC, PJM compliance requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, strong communication and technical writing abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

In this role, as a Construction Manager, you will oversee substation construction activities in the electric power industry. This role requires excellent project management skills, electrical knowledge, and strong leadership abilities. You will be boots on ground when it comes to contractor supervision. You will have the ability to start and stop the construction activities. Managing the safe operation in the field is the key priority of your task.
What You’ll Do
- Manage electrical and civil projects from conception through completion, ensuring all work meets standards, budget, and schedule.
- Oversee overall project performance, including scope, quality, schedule, and innovation for complex and high-risk projects.
- Serve as primary communicator between project management, work groups, and stakeholders on project issues.
- Lead job site walk-downs and meetings with engineering, construction, and contract management personnel.
- Monitor project safety and perform weekly safety audits, prepare daily job briefings, and safety reports.
- Possess a strong knowledge of electrical schematics.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of substation construction experience in the electric power industry.
- Demonstrated skill in construction project management.
- Electrical safety tags to support contractor work on primary and/or secondary distribution equipment.
- High level of knowledge about transmission rebuild and substation installation.
- Proficient users of Microsoft Office products.
- Deep knowledge of OSHA safety policies, OSHA 30 training or willingness to obtain.
- Understanding of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedure and Clearance Holder certification.
